My LFS sells pre-mix salt water for 95 cents/gal. so $9 for 5 gal seems too steep for me.

Hey sorry to not have that mentioned. I live in SOCAL , Lakewood to be more specific =) great LFS. They have Ro for 39 cents and cataline water for 59 cents but no containers, and that is per gallon. They also have a great Saltwater fish selection I go on Wednesday to take advantage of the 25% off all livestock but I am 15 and go to school so i never get to see the full stock, I am pretty positive that they restock on fish and stuff on tuesday's and thursdays. They have great prices for most fish aswell and a buetiful 300g reef tank on display but I don't think they have a great coral selection. How far are you from Long Beach?

I'm in Oceanside. (about an hour south of you in San Diego County)
Too far for water, but that's a great price. Maybe the next time I drop my wife off at LAX I'll bring all my 5gal. containers.

Confused as to why people where complaining about how ***** maintains their fish and tanks. How this would have ANY impact on something that comes from another company they just stock in their store? Its Catalina water, its not from ***** tanks. I dont use it cause its over priced just was wondering wtf everyone was talking about why ***** would have any effect on just something they stock on their shelf from another company.

Listen< Most *****'s are generally crappy, understaffed and very seldom know a darn thing about thier saltwater or freshwater critters! But I would belive there are a few out there that are in good shape!
Me Personally! I won't buy anything from them because of how they take care of things, But if you have a decent ***** in your area then by all means use it!
I have not done the math , but it seems much more cost effective to buy yourself a R.O system and a bucket of salt, you may have to be creative to transfer it to your tank, But hey that's what this Hobby is all about!

I know this thread is old, but I wanted to also say that this water is from Catalina Water company.
It has nothing to do with ***** Co, except that they now carry Catalina Water. I've used it once and I may try a few more times before I make my final decision. But I like how easy it is for sure
