I know RO/Di is the way to go...but my tap water is so hard and the pH is practically acid. About a year ago I started adding well water to my tank all was good for awhile but recently all hell broke loose and this stringy brown stuff i thought was algae is covering everything. Any ideas? Is my reasoning bad of using the well bad? maybe hook the RO/Di to the well? I am open to any ideas...I need help!!! Oh 75gal reef with a homemade sump of 30 gal. even the refuge is looking bad

Well, most likely, there are a lot of phosphates, silicates, and other things in your well water. I would just hook the RO/DI up and use that. If your refuge is also looking bad, there is so much in your water that your macroalgae cannot keep up with it and remove it.

Thanks..I am going to try and hook the RO/Di to the well and see how it goes.
