Ok i dont have a RO unit my question is can i use Distilled water bought from the store for my water? if so what kind? tnx again

Welcome to the board!
Thomas a shark posted this in a thread I think entitled Questions about Distil Water. "You shouldn't need to use any conditioner with distilled water, it is very similer if not equal to RO water itself. RO/DI water IMO is better than just DI or just RO. The only thing you might want to test for is phosphates in your distilled water."HTH

In my experience in many different cities in the US, unconditioned tap water is just fine. I also just replace the water that evaporates. The money saved on ro/di units or water is better spent in larger tanks, macro algae, or better fish.

Every grocery store or wal-mart super center around here has an RO water dispenser that You can use to fill your own containers for 30 to 40 cents per gallon. That is cheaper than distilled. Just get a couple of containers from wal-mart and make a few trips to the store.
