ive never heard of a chocolate tang but all tangs eat nori sheets, by lettuce do you mean the seaweed sheets or just like a normal lettuce found in the grocery store?

choc tang is another name for scopas tang.can be highly agressive to other fish with simular shapes .including buterflies.they like meaty food along with veggies but must have ample supply of greens as like other tangs.scopus tang pictured below.I feed mine emerald entrese (frozen aglae with mysis shrimp) formula 2 frozen cubes, veggie flakes.thera+a antipareitc formula non medicated pellets by spectrum.if this is what you have caution about those white spots they are accually razor spikes and will draw blood

What i have is called Chocolate tang or also mimic tang. it was between that and the typical yellow tang, but the chocolate was more vivid and i liked its shape. the colors compliment my reef. so far it hasnt caused any problems with my 1.5 year old maroon, it mainly hides behind my lr when im in sight. i guess tomorrow i will get some seaweed sheets. thanks for the info.

When small they have more of a purple coloration and then their coloring turns to brown. Mine mows down anything and everything food wise..it is such a pig!! But for the fish's health I would add nori to the diet...you can buy roasted nori at the grocery store for $3...you will pay double for the same thing at a lfs and get less product too! I have a clown who lets the tang come close to the anemone to visit...just not too close.

Actually there is a chocolate tang, Acanthurus Pyoferus is the proper name or Yellow Mimic in the juvinile stage. I have two of them in the adult stage in different tanks. To me they are the looking tangs, but that a matter of opinion. They both are really healthy and are eating really good. When I first got them it took them a long while to eat, but now they eat everything my other tangs eat. Do a search of the official name and you should get some great info on this wonderful fish.......
