watts for heater

what is the watts per gallon for a heater that I should get? I was thinking that it is around 3 per is this right?

Depends on your Delta Temp. The difference between current tank and ambient room temp and the desired tank temp.
For example 75 gal
10 degrees DeltaT = 147W - 1.96w per gal
15 degrees DeltaT = 220W- 2.93w per gal
20 degrees DeltaT = 293W - 3.9w per gal
If your tank is smaller or larger it varies. It would be best to get two smaller ones incase one fails, either stuck on or off. You're not as prone to a devastating effect with having only one big one and it fails.

That is so cool that you broke it down by delta. That makes perfect sense!

I was planning on 2 to 3 300 watts ones for my 210. the tank usually runs at about 79-82 during warmer months, but with the colder months around the corner I want to be safe
