i would like to know how many watts would be good for a ten gallon tank. right know im doing a fowlr but gonna get some corals later on down the road. i was thinking of getting a t5 fixture but if i find a good deal on a MH ill go for it, or is that overkill on such a small tank? any good websites for buying retrofit kits?

T5s or PCs will be fine. And cant post competitors websites, but theres literaly a million sites to buy lights

I thought swf did.
But still a site that sells lights will sell other things that SWf sells so still cant post sights..
Just find a fixture u want and compare different pirces on website that u can find on ask.com

Clip on 70w MH woul dbe fine on that tank. A 150w pendant might cause heat problems on such a small tank. T-5s probably your best bet, plus you can control the color combinations too.

If you buy a clip-on fan to help with heat, then a 150w halide would be plenty. They don't make very many decent T5ho fixtures for a tank that small.
