Wavemaker ?

I use maxi jets on my wave maker.
my wavemaker is a "natural wave by aquarium systems"
I like it. you can go from a 30 second cycle to a 3 minute cycle. I change it at random everyday. (or two if i forget) a simple twist of the dial changes it without having to reprogram or anything. unfortunatly your set on a ceartain on off cycle, to compensate for that whenever I think of it I switch the outklets the PH's are plugged into

Right on man! It took many hours tinkering with it to get it quiet and my tank is currently cycling, but I cannot believe how much water this thing pushes - it is unreal. I cannot wait to see what the fish and corals do in reaction to this much turbulence and it is awesome that there is no heat transfer from the motor - a 1/25th horsepower motor would almost boil the water because that bad-boy gets hot!

No, you will not need to lower the water level. It doesn't produce large waves perse on the top of the water, but it does within the water column. The deeper you place the unit in the tank the less surface agitation there is, so you have to find a happy medium. The top of my unit sits about half an inch below the water line and the "waves" stay within that half an inch range. Any small flecks of debris in the water will rotate in a circular motion just like the ocean - it is awesome.

I read in one of the reviews of the wave2k that he would also retrofit the units to accomodate different mounting needs however I have not verified this with the seller/inventor.
I thought this might come in handy as I only have a 1" clearance between the wall and the tank presently and idealy I wouldn't have to pull it out from the wall because of all of the light leak on the wall and the side; the side of the tank abuts a walk way so there would be really bright lights from the back side of the tank, rather unsightly. Of course the wave2k boxes are considerably more attractive and safer for some critters than the powerheads which is a real plus to me, not to mention the seemingly ideal functioning.

yeah I have one of his mods, he has it set up where you can suspend the small motor above the unit so it dose not take up any space behind the tank
