Wavemaster Pro sucks

I've always had good luck with maxi jets- reliable in my book but not enough flow for anything serious either. It's all up to you, small tank it would probably work great...75 or bigger and I would opt for something else.

The wave2k looks like an interesting setup. Anyone on here tried one? Does it take up a lot of room in the tank? I'll probably hold off for now, as just having these maxijets run 100% of the time (and having them deflect off the walls of the tank rather than point directly in) seems fine. The fish like the currents, and they are happy not to have the on-off action of the wavemaker.

I just went thru the whole process of looking at every wavemaker setup on the market and was ready to plunk down $800 on the highly overated Tunze turbelles, can someone please explain to me why these cost so much? After much debate and posting questions on other forums combined with feedback, I decided to go with the seio 1500's and controller for my new sps tank. What an incredible product, seems like all the water in the tank moves in the same direction at the same time and then it changes, it's gentle but very powerful, not a concentrated blast of water. I could not be any happier, and I saved $500 which just payed for a huge shipment of corals. Here is a pic of the waterflow. I've never had a tank with this much surface turbulance

I also have a microjet made by the same company that quit after about 3 months running a phosphate reactor. So when everyone say get a Maxijet because they are so reliable well that may be their opinion which is not mine at this time.
I haven't any experience with wavemakers though so I can't comment on them. In the future I will look at them, probably this summer.
I have to agree nothing wrong with the Seio powerheads......Look at the Icecap Vortechs'.....all the cash and so many issues with them....I'm really unaware of any major issues with the Seios.....the bigger models do suck up some room, but that is were something like the Tunze nano's come into play, or better yet have any of you guys done the maxijet mods?????

The Wave2k is great at moving water in a rolling motion. I'll use them for every tank I set up.
It's kind of noisy though.
Tank wise it sits against the side. About 2 inches wide. The motor hangs over the side of the tank so the canopy will need to be modified.

One thing nobody has mentioned is a diff controller. I run a reef keeper on my 75 atm. It does much more than just turn ph's on and off. It moniters temp, ph, turns lights on and off, has a wave timer, feeding mode shuts off all pumps, night mode shuts off all the ph's. It does a lot and is a very good product. You may look into something like this.

I'd still be concerned that the fish would get stressed if it alternates powerheads for wave action. Is that how it works?
That said, I would like to pick up a comprehensive aquarium controller at some point. I've been considering the lighthouse aquarium controller, because I like the web interface, but I'd probably want something with more room to grow.
Meanwhile, that wave2k seems interesting...time to start convincing my wife that the fish need yet ANOTHER gadget to keep them happy. (And she thought we'd be done once we bought someone else's "complete" setup...)
