way ot: gamecube $99, worth it?

I read that the gamecube price was being dropped to under a hundred dollars...again--is it worth it? I have my trusty computer and ps2, but I have heard really good things about the new mario world game. Anybody have one and should I shell out the cash for the system, extra controllers, and games when the next generation systems are so near?
P.S. Have I just reached a new level of nerdiness asking about video games in my online reef community? I need a girlfriend.

NO dont get it ok what i want you to do with that $ is go to the toilet and flush it (or send it to me :)) i ther way you are wasting it get ps2 or xbox i have bothat and the graphics are sweet

It all depends on what type of games you like to play. I have one and love it, because I like those types of games. I dont like the games with graphics like I am playing TV. I think the mario games and zelda games are awesome.
IMO it is better than any of the other systems

i bought a gamecube!
They are really fun, but no dvd function. Me and my girlfriend both play it alot. Check out soul calibur 2 if you get a chance, that and resident evil series (if you like those games)

dude i bought mine just for the star wars titles that were only released for the gamecube, and i am going to be blessed with another here soon Star Wars Rogue Squadron Rogue LEader......you actually get to fight AT-AT's on foot as Luke! god i am a dork...
but really i have a cube, and am very pleased with it, just wish it had mroe titles and wish i had more time to play it!

i have a gamecube. i think mario sucks when its in 3d. only game i would recommend for it is metriod, zelda, soul caliber 2. I rogue squadren is coming out, that should be bad@ss and so is viewtiful joe. but thats all i can think of that is worth getting
but i would lean towards xbox if your friends come over a lot because halo 2 is going to come out in awhile if your into first person shooter or even liked golden eye or perfect dark. Halo is really fun when you have 4 guys or more. Me and my friends play halo 4 vs 4 with 2 xboxs and 2 tvs. Capture the flag could always is the number one game we play on it.
But then, halo is also coming out for PC, halflife 2 is coming out, and counterstrike condition zero is also coming out... that alone is enough to last you a long long long long time. But thats if your into first person shooters.

I've got the cube, p2, and have spent a lot of time on the X-BOX. I would pick up the cube over the x-box for sure. The box does have some great games, but the cube is the way to go especially if you already have a DVD player. At 99 it is a no brainer. The new p3 is coming out, I believe within another year or so, but it isn't going to be a big upgrade. They are going to use the same processor as the p2. You will get the hard drive and other stuff like that with it, from what I have read. Games I have for the cube; Zelda, Metroid, 007 Nightfire, Soul Caliber II. The nightfire game is the first Bond game since the one on the 64 that is any good. I picked up 4 wireless controllers and my friends and I can play for hours sometimes.

Hey Dude,
I have a saturday job at GAME (Englands leading game retailer :D ) so this is my advice! :
They are great innocent fun, unique and different to XBOX and PS2. Worth it in my opinion for Super Mario Sunshine, Super Monkey Ball, Pikmin and Super Mario Kart Double Dash that is coming out soon!
At that price its a bargain, I got it the day it was released in Europe and paid a lot more than that!

i would get it if it goes down to 99 dollars.....right now i have PS2,Xbox, nintendo nes, super nintendo, sega, sega gensis, so if it goes down then ill buy it because of the new metroid,zelda, and other game cube titles.

I've had a gamecube since launch and I love it. At $99 you'd be crazy to pass it up. No DVD function? With 3 dvd players already in the house one more wouldnt made much difference. You've got Mario, Zelda, Metroid, F-zero, Pikmin, Rogue Leader, Super Smash Brothers Melee(I can't believe noones mentioned this game, its my favorite on the system besides rogue leader), and lots more. Plus there's a new rogue squadron game coming out that looks insanly kickass, especially since I'm a huge Star Wars fan.
Nintendos first party games make a GC worth it by themselves IMO.

The gamecube at $99.99 (which started sept 25) is a very good price with the ati graphics chip set inside and might sell alot more gamecubes than before and perhaps more software companies will start making games it but with that said nintendo will have a new console out by next year to get first market hold on the other systems that may come out later.

The Hobbit Game for Gamecube rocks. Zelda is cool, and as tfb mentioned the starwars titles are great. I to am a nerd
