web developer recommendations?

i'm looking to hire a web development firm for one or two relatively large sites that will be very user interactive. this is not a job for a high school student. do any of you have any experience with or have heard good things about a company, local or not? thanks.

I would seriously look into Joomla. It is an open source software. It is so robust and it's pretty simple to use. It is extremely interactive and there are 3rd party components to do pretty much anything. I'd check it out.

thanks for the suggestion but i'm looking more for a professional or group of professionals rather than software itself. if they want to use something cool like that to build it, i'm up for it.

I know someone who is a real good graphic designer , web developer.. 6 years experience.
He does mainly adult work but can do anything mainstream too..

try these.......
you should ask for a sample of what they can do....... and if they do not meet your needs then go with someone else. I would go with someone who will update your website weekly or monthly. A good website is very important to any sucessful company.
