Weird Featherduster Phenomenon

I just got a new featherduster that seems to be changing colors. I know it sounds weird, but the rings of tan actually turn bright green and then go back to tan after a few seconds. Anyone ever heard of that?

Yup, all feather dusters do that, most people won't notice, but you just have to pay close attention to it. If you have a hawaiian duster you will notice it on the white parts of the crowns. Green dusters are extremely noticable.
It's very cool isn't it?

It is very cool. I have had a few of them in the past, but never noticed it on any of the others. Do you know why they change colors? They feed on phytoplankton right? So it's not for attracting prey. Just curious.
Thanks!

I'm not positive on why they change colors [haven't read any books that explain the reasons why they do it, but do mention they do change color]. I'll let you know if I do ever come across it.
They filter feed. As well as feed on bacteria and particulate organic matter.
