That is a MIS-BAR ocellaris. That clownfish is an error during aquaculturing. It is completely healthy. One one my venders sales them. By the way, its a perfectly fine fish...just a missing stripe.

It just an abnormal trait during aquaculturing. Happens from time to time when they are being farm raised. Sometimes in the wild but more often in farming. They even have shorter ocellaris called STUBBIES. They are missing the usual amount of vertebrate in the spine which makesthem shorter, but perfectly healthy.

Alright, good to know that he is healthy. The only reason i got him instead of a maroon is b/c of it's stripe.

Yes, mis bar . We've had one for about 7 months now. He is very healthy.
Since my son named him Nemo (imagine that) he calls it his "lucky stripe."

Critters like this used to be called "freaks". Now they are the result of selective breeding. To avoid too much inbreeding, many fish breeders will often introduce wild fish back into their breeding stock.

And some web-sites will give a misbar Clown a fancy new name (like "Teardrop Clown") and jack up the price to ridiculous levels. And some people fall for it, silly fools!

I have two of these lil precious clowns. I love them to death, and both are extremely healthy and vibrant! Lots of character too.
Don't worry about the stripe thing, as everyone said it's basically a color morph. Kind of like how some people are born with wisdom teeth and some aren't, or how some can curl their tongues and some can't. Just a chromosome, nothing to worry about!
