I have these weird cottony looking things that have grown on the sides of my sump. Most are very small but a few are about the size of a pencil eraser. Any ideas I was thinking some kind of algae??? It's white colored not green tho.

after doing some cleaning and maintenance, I found these sponges in my overflow. They are where most "u-tubes" would go but I have a CPR overflow that doesnt use tubes. Its good to know that these things are living where nothing can get to them.

no, but they probably eat things that some of your corals also eat.

I have them too. A ton of them. I have been scraping them off with a magnet. As long as they don't end up in my display.

I think the more you scrape them off the better chance of that happening by them being sucked up and sent up the return, if they are small enough.. Here you have a natural filter feeder in your sump amd you don't want them there? I think they clean the water for you, feeding on what the skimmer missed.

Yeah, don't bother removing them....and if you have them multiplying rapidly it is a sign of too much nutrients in your tank....so look into your feeding habits
