I have recently noticed 2 inverts in my saltwater reef tank and was wondering if anyone can identify them and tell me whether they are good or bad.
1. A white opaque small filter feeder that is 1/2 " by 1/8" cylinder shape. It looks like a miniature cactus, but doesn't really have spikes on it. They hang on glass, on rock and are in the sump of my wet dry. They have multiplied fast, particularly in the sump, where they have taken on a yellowish sheen.
2. A colony of 50 or so bright green snot colored slug-like tubes that look like the roots that grow out of old potatoes left in the bag too long has sprung up on the filter pad of my whisper 5 secondary filter which I use only for mechanical filtration. They did not appear to move, and were not slimy when I touched them. When I tried to pull them off, they broke into pieces.
