Well, here we go again.

Well today I just put my water in my tank with about 15lbs of rock and am starting the process again. I just moved from vegas to oregon and had to sell all my livestock. I had some rock that I saved that is in the new tank, but it is pretty bare. I will be ordering more rock in the next week or so. I Just put in an order for my 250 w hqi pfo mini pendent with ice cap ballast. Got some new test kits and am ready to go. Now I just need to be patient. I am planning on taking this one slow, so I guess I will just have to enjoy the process of maturing a tank.
I have some pics of the setup process I will post. Any comments would be much apreciated.

tank with the sand and base rock in it. Waiting for sump so I can get all those pumps and skimmer and what not out of the display. Also am going to get about 25lbs more of rock. It is a 30 gal tank by the way.

i see a deterious trap.... imo id put the rock on pvc shelfing so that your spraybar can bow it out... other than that looks wonderful

What do you mean, " put the rock on pvs shelving?" I put it on the egg crate to allow for circulation under the rock. Is there a better way of doing this with pvc. My spray bars will blow water through the rock and should take care of detritous. I could be missing something.

what i did is put small 1 ich pieces 3/4 pvc pipe on the bottem of my tank then took the egg crate and rapped it with netting and set the egg crate on the pvc pipe then put my sand down... It makes a very good plenum...hey i see that your from oregon i can hook you up with a reef club and all the good lfs e-mail if you want the info...dna70@comcast.net

the egg crate has little boxed in sqares right. as deterious falls into them because there are 4 sides, it will get trapped. these areas will block deterios and it will settle... as it seeps below. imo the best platform for lr is to build one out pf pvc that way nothing is there to block it... or put pieces of pvc under the eggcrate and lift it off the bottom glass
