Well I finally joined Facebook

Well I actually joined awhile back just so I could search fr someone and then never did anything else with it. I've spent most of the morning in between yard work (HOT) setting it all up. Any other facebookers out there?

I did last year to try and find my best man from when I got married 22 years ago. Then people I haven't seen or heard from for the last 20 years started sending friend requests, which I thought was cool. But now I rarely go there because I really don't care that their daughter got her first ballerina shoes or they just had great Mexican food at El Pollo Loco. There are some folks who seem to document every step they take and I get the "update". So I go on once a month or so to see if anything I could give a cr@p about is happening.

It was great for our class when setting up a school reunion.
I can't let any of my co-workers or family add me..... cause we reminisce about the things we did in school.... GOOD TIMES!

Sorry to hear it, I had hopes of all grownups refusing to join and hope it goes away. Kids put their whole lives up for everyone to see...stupid is the only name that comes to mind concerning kids that do that.
My own son posts his life on facebook, if I want to know what is going on in his life, I have to log on, then I get 30 invites from strangers to join, they want to be my friend...SIGH, others knew I had a grandchild born before I did. I hate facebook and I refuse to be friends with every person he knows.

It's up to parents to limit the children's use. It's a communication tool for me where I'm just about as far away as I can be from my home.

You're going to blame this on software? You should probably examine the relationship.

What is wrong with good old e-mail? Where the only ones reading the message are those who you want to communicate with..facebook is a free for all, your "friends" read everything...My KID is 31 years old.

But that sounds like your sons problem... or business... it's not the software's fault. I log on about every 3 weeks to a month to see what my high school friends are up to. Where they live... what they became... pics of their children and old pics of us as kids.... I see no harm in that. I haven't actually logged in for awhile. You don't have to share info, it's completely voluntary how much you share. And it's completely none of your business how much your son shares at his age. I'm not saying that in a mean way.

I'm just angry at my kid for sharing on fascebook about the baby and not bothering to actually call me. I suppose I'm old fashioned and out of the loop...but I think my son is a _____ fill in the blank.

my daughter has one, and all her friends. Its private and only her friends can view it. I also have one so I can view her wall and see what she is talking to her friends about. I also keep in touch with friends from highschool and family. I dont add anyone I dont know well. I even found my niece that I lost contact with 28 yrs ago.

I have my FB acct and actually really enjoy it. I "hide" anybody who posts to often, cause like you all have mentioned, I don't care about what people do ALL the time. But I like that I can post a photo album once and all my family can view it. I like the "events" calendar so if I'm gone, then my friends can see where I went.
I like it.
