Well guys I have gotten to the point where I spend my whole paycheck on my tank. And it's gotten to the point where I have to continually ask my parents for gas money to even get to work. I really need to start saving my money and not blowing all of it in one shot. But I can't help myself I just want my tank running. I gues I neeed to learn two things, patcients (sp?) and learning how to save my money. As to reinforce saving my money my mom will be taking me debit card before my next paycheck.
Boy does it suck when you get so physically drawn in and addicted to this hobby. Not to say as I dont love it, but oby is it expensive. I have dropped already around $400 just for the tank/sump/overflow/and partcial plumbing.
Gosh darn my 18 year old teenage why of thinking!

I knew before hand that it was going to be pricey, i.e. I am looking at around $1,300 to get my tank up and going..but that is just to get tit running with all the equipment. I know I will start running up a larger bill when I start buying corals and fish. I just need to learn to be more money savy. I mean I only make $450 every two weeks, and that's with working about 65 hours (I am a Wal-Mart cart pusher) total. I just need to get it nto my head to save save save!

Watch craigslist for deals, lots of reef stuff to be had there.
Reef is right, I see some great deals on occasion on Craigslist on saltwater equipment and fish, the secret is to keep checking and not give up. A 125 gallon reef tank might be worth 1500.00 dollars, but I just saw a great deal on a tank that is in a business that is moving for way less.

There you go and don't forget that if you do buy something off Craigslist ALWAYS try to get a better price and don't be afraid to leave your number and walk away if they don't come down on the price. I looked for a few weeks before I found the three-wheeler I wanted and even though it was a good deal at 400.00 dollars I offered the guy 200.00, he refused the offer and as I was walking back to my truck he asked if I could do any better and I sweetened the deal by 50 dollars and he took it.
I would bet you could probably get that tank for $150-175 pretty easy.

The guy says he needs it gone, so I figure if I offer to pick it up this next weekend and offer $175 he will take it. The only problem is convincing my mother that I need this tank!

Ditto!!! I have found the majority of my equipment on craiglist for a fraction of the cost of retail. I wouldn't buy anything retail these days unless it was an emergency!! And most purchases were made by making an offer. But, it does take patience and perseverance!!! Keep your chin up!!
