I went to the Baltimore Aquarium Saturday morning. Had a great time... they have some terrific exibits. Went to the Baltimore Zoo Saturday afternoon. Some cool animals, but the exhibits needed some work... not enough room for most of the animals. Felt kinda bad for some of the larger animals... no room to run or anything.
Took some pics while I was there... here are a few of my favorites. More are on my site (click 'enter site', then 'baltimore trip' under news and updates):

I lived in Baltimore for 23 years. You're right the aquarium is truly awesome!
It's actually the National Aquarium. The rainforest is particularly cool, and IN general there's just a lot of cool stuff in and around the inner harbor.
The zoo however leaves alot to be desired, It's actually much better then it used to be. The elephants have it the best, they have the most ebvironmentally correct habitant. The paraire dogs are cool, and the polar bears are neat, but everyone else is pretty cramped. You should have seen where the elephants used to live. They were all penned up in the building accross from the praire dogs, and they only let them out twice a day.
So my tip is go the the Aquarium, The Science center, and Catch an Orioles Game, and then you've seen everything cool in Balto.

yea... next time down I definitely want to hit the science center. I'm a nerd at heart, so I think it will be right up my alley.

the balitmore aquarium is imo the best public aquarium i have seen (i have not made it out to monteray bay though). did they still have the sea dragon exhibit? i liked the way you walk up the ramps, then sprial down the center, which is the shark tank... anyways nice pics, esp the tang tank!

yea... they still had the sea dragons... my wife liked those. I was very impressed how well layed out the aquarium is... the way they have an 'up track' then the tropical rain forrest, then the 'down track'. And they control how many people enter the aquarium, and when they enter so it never gets really packed.

Yeah i live about 40 minutes from the aquarium. Havent been in about 10 years and really want to get back up there cause i am into reefing now. The inner harbor is the only nice thing about B-more. Besides camden yards, the shops and the big fish tank its not much to see.

Jack how many gallons is the reef tank at the zoo. Do you have any information about where they got all the corals and the size of the corals is huge!! Also what filtration do they use. Your photos are great, my only problem with the photo's is that you didn't take enough. Also there is a picture at your site of an aquarium with all these brain corals and stoney corals. Could you please tell me more about that aquarium and what was in it.
thanks and great photos

what kind of campra did you use? those pic's turned out great! hey do you mind if I save a few to use as backgrounds? (I have program that changes my bg every time I start the computer).
Great pic's, I miss going to the Aquarium every year (they have in New Orleans).

Sounds similar to the Dallas World Aquarium. We had an opportunity to visit there in March. Great place, if ever you go to Dallas make sure you go.
We have an aquarium here on the NC coast at Pine Knoll Shores, I have not been in a while but plan to go this summer. As usual, you take for granted the things in your own back yard!
I grew up near Niagara Falls in Buffalo,NY...have been to the falls more since I moved away than I ever did growing up.
