Wet/Dry filter problem........

I have a 75g tank that's been up for three years with no change of any equipment. All of a sudden my pump is taking water out of the sump faster than water can get back in. Now the pump is sucking in tons of air and the water level in the tank is rising up to the glass on the top. I've tried taking my pre filter sponges out thinking they're gunked up or something but it didn't seem to matter. Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated.

If you have the overflow boxes with U-tubes it helps to take the tube off and run a glass cleaner brush through them to get rid of the algea and stuff growing in the tube. Stuff growing in them restricks the movement through the tube, thus making your water level rise and your sump level to constantly drop.
