in a wet dry filter there is an upper filter and a lower sponge under the bio balls. should you replace these and how often. Or do you leave them to create an biological condition?
Most people will simply clean the sponge with tank water after it's siphoned out for a water change. Regular cleanings will prevent you from having to buy new sponges.
