You should include pictures, heirlooms, awards (from school, beauty pagents, etc.), and anything that you feel is important in raising your daughter. Talk about little stories about her in it too... "the other day, brooklyn did this...". I'm telling you, that will be the best gift you could ever give someone. Then you and her can read it together when she's older... you have no idea how much you forget, but with a journal to write it in, you can read it all again and go "oh yeah, i remember that". Share it with your wife. You can both make entries. Do it handwritten, so it's more personal...
sorry for all of the instructions... i'm a little crafty, and i love scrapbooking opportunities!!!
great idea!

JCrim, thanks for sharing. It's a miracle everytime a child is born, I know it happens everyday, but still just amazing. I cried my heart out when our son was born. It's just an amazing feeling. Congrats and Jdragunas had a great idea. Sorry to hear about your friend too.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. Jdrag, I plan on doing some type of scrapbook... we have the hospital bracelets too.
BTW, regarding my friend... he had been a "recreational" drug user for probably 10 years. I know this was a factor. I can't imagine his parents coming home to find that horrific image in their house. For some reason he wanted them to find him.
On another note, I promised some pics. The last one may get me some heat... just a shot of a happy dad pretty tired from spending the night on a chair in the hospital room. Go ahead and roast away. But isn't my daughter beautiful?

I love seeing dads so involved and excited with their new baby. I work in a nursery in a large hospital and we take all patients(paying or not) and unfortunately not all cases are as we would like.
I work mostly in a intensive care nursery and they are working on encouraging Kangaroo care which is designed for very premature infants to bond by skin to skin contact with both/either their mom and dad. It is a beautiful experience to see these tiny babies in natural close skin contact with their parents.
Congratulations on the birth of your baby girl!!

Beautiful baby....congrats. 2nd to last pic is priceless :joy:
Sorry for the loss of your friend, things had to be running deep for him and his family. A friend of my husbands did the same thing, but with a car in the garage. Devistating for all.
Post more pics of that beautiful baby. :happyfish

Congrats. My little brother will be turning two in March. He's just now figuring out how to open the doors. Just wait until you have to chase her all over the house.

If you think she looked stoned there, check out the pic below.
I appreciate everyone's kind words. It's funny, I've reread this thread every day since I wrote it and I relive the experience over and over again. I can still feel the emotions of that day. Now I just have to figure out how to be a dad??? :help:

cute kid and great story. you brought tears to my eyes also. we've been kindof trying, but not to the point of seeing why there's not a kid yet. i'm really happy for you two!
sorry about your buddy. i've had a few friends that went that way and my cousin. it's strange. not the way i'd want to go.
