has anyone caught or bought a baby sea turtle for their tank? i think one of those would really be awesome... sure it would get too big eventaully, but if you get it as a baby you could enjoy it for years before it gets too big.
has anyone ever heard, had or seen one in a home tank?

They are protected so it would be illegal to do so. Also they need too much room even as a baby. They need to roam the ocean to really be healthy. IMO it is a bad idea.

I do believe it is definitely illegal..even trying to bring in a piece of one is a problem if going through customs. I found a nice bit of shell from a hawksbill in the Bahamas but no way was I going to try to take it.
It would be incredibly irresponsible as well...they would have little chance if returned to the wild.
BTW, many professional aquarists who have experience working with them will tell you they are among the most aggressive animals around. I would rather be in with sharks. We had to remove the (rehabilitating) ridley from the tank we had him in when cleaning...he would make every effort to attack a diver.
