is there any special additive i should be adding in order to help my bubble tip? he was doing well until recently, but he has started to turn white. i refuse to take him out untill i know hes a complete gonner. should never have listened to my lfs on this one. he is still eating well though, so at least that is a good sign. he doesnt move and my clown still goes in him often. he also closes on my clown every night much like a blanket. Its actually kinda cool.... but anyways anyone recomend something in particular? thanks in advance

Just a couple of questions? What kind of lighting do you have? What are your water parameters? There are no supplements that I know of for an aneenome. Besides food items like DT's. Anenomes require very good lighting to survive and they also like excellent water conditions.

2x24 watt pc 10k and actinic and another 20w 10k for a 20g tank. parameters are...
ph8.2 amonia 0 nitrite 0 nitrate 15 tank temp 78 salinity 1.023(ideally, but being a small tank it does have a tendency to waiver a little)
mylfs told me to add iodine. should i be? ive also started adding a ph buffer and calcium, but thats cause i want to stimulate corraline. tanks been set up about 1.5 years. so what chemical do anemones use to rebuild flesh? they must need some kind of supplement, seems logical since everything else in the bloody tank seems to. <img src="graemlins//freak.gif" border="0" alt="[freak]" />

I really dont know. I add supplements to my tank but it is for all my inhabitants in general Iodine, Stronium, Calcium,..etc. Besides feeding my two Bubble Tips (use to be one until it split) fresh shrimp, clams, scallops, I also use Kent Phytoplex. I really dont add anything else with it in mind.

what is the phytoplex for? how often you feeding? been feeding mine mon and fridays. try to feed it a whole brine. im just concerned because it has gone white over the course of a few days. does your anemone ever deflate completely? mine has done that from the beginning and seems to have made it nearly a daily ritual. how many hours do you keep your lights on? i have mine on for about 12 hours. i have heard that may be too much, and also about right. have any recomendations on an anemone book? info on these seems like treasure hunting... thanks in advance.

Phytoplex is phtoplankton. I feed my anenomes about once every two weeks. Yes both of them deflate and inflate it is totally normal. I leave my lights on about 10 hours a day. There is a book called Anenomes as a Hobby Conservation and Care or close to that title.

You might want to consider upping your salinity to 1.025. From everything I've read (so far) anemones prefer natural levels.
Good luck!

I think youre trying to feed it too much ive had anenomes and when i kept trying to feed them is when i would kill them found if i left them alone with good water conditions they would do much better got so big it ate my cbs
