BTW i know diatoms are supposed to go away after a certain amount of time. well mine have been here for 2 months or so, i have NOT been using tap water. im just trying to get something that will help.

All of the best Diatom Munchers also happen to be the favorite foods of Hermits.
For Diatoms on the glass I like the following:
Collonista
Stomatella
Limpets
Strombus maculatus

Keep in mind that the snails that Guy mentioned will likely be eaten/killed by your hermit...so, either keep the crap and have no snails, or get the snails and find a new home for crab. Snails are worth their keep, imo, while hermits are mostly destructive and a nuisance.

Beth what do you mean by distructive on the crabs, do they intentionally tear stuff up or are you just referring to knocking things off, etc. I have several and thought they were supposed to be good for reefs. Thanks

yeah i noticed that one of my bigger hermits attcked my turbo snail and took his shell. i think i might get some hermits and then if they eat up the diatoms i will probably get rid of them. but i really want my diatoms gone right now.
