ok so i was at a local reptile store talking to a friend who own the store and was telling him i wanted to buy some of the base rock he has. he used to be big into saltwater but there isnt a big enough demand around here and he couldnt keep up with his dt and all the other things. so the tank crashed about a year ago, and he took out the saltwater and replaced it with fresh water and is just running it with fresh water, nothing but sand and rock in it. i bought a couple of pounds of rock off him and he said he still has all the dealer stuff so if i need something to come to him first and see if he has it or if he can get it fo cheap. he ended up selling me a tiny tiny tank. its probably a quarter of a gallon and has a really strong light on it. its got a tiny hob filter. he said he used to keep corals in it on his desk but he eventually got out of saltwater so he packed it up. he sold it to me for 10 bucks. it has crushed coral in it, and maybe an 1/8th of a pound of base rock. i used water from my dt to start it. so after a little while of aiting im going to add a coral or two. what i want to know is what can i keep in here? is there a fish i can keep with corals in a tank this size? any help would be greatly appreciated.

There is no fish that I am aware of that can be kept in quarter of a gallon. Infact I dont know if I would want to keep coral in it, the water would evap so quickly from the tank that the salinity would be all over the place. I started a 3 gallon deco that I have to top off every moring to keep my salinity right.

I wouldn't put anything that requires feeding. What kind of light? I would think some rics and zoas at most.

im not sure what kind of light it is, i think t5. its bright enough that at night it lights up my whole living room. its easily way brighter than the 24 inch flourecent light strip on my dt. i dont know what kind of coral would be suited to a tank this small, i dont need a fish, it was just an idea. maybe an invert?

i would go with things like shrooms and thats it, anything that needs to be feed will most likley cause a spike and die.

ok so what do you feed those? pretty much the only thing i think i need to do is maintain the water level. ill just keep transfering water from my dt for top offs and when i do a water change ill change out like half. im pretty sure all i need to do is give the corals light, right?

You could probably keep a couple rics and zoanthids in it and not put in any food stuffs. They don't need it. And it might be a good thing to basically treat it as though it was a temp. holding tank since it is so small and do daily water change. At least every 3rd day. And run some chemi-pur or simular filter media. Temps are probably going to be the downfall of it unless it is kept in a temp-controlled enviroment.
Since you were at a herp shop it might be better suited to get a top for it and put one small mantella in it with some peat and a small water dish.
