Im still trying to figure out a wattage or type of clamp on lamp I can get at a lowes or home depot to keep my coral alive in a tubaware container that is 13'' tall by 26'' long but will only have 9'' of water in it.
Or I have a bulb I can use in the original hood that came with the aquarium but It has a do not exceed wattage sticker on it becuase I guess it would melt it. Has anyone used the regular hoods meant for freshwater with one satwater bulb?

Im moving and need to keep my coral with a relative for a few weeks. The container wont have any sand or rocks in it just the coral with a heater and something to move the water.
I have to take my T-5 fixture with me so I need something cheap to keep these guys alive for a few weeks.
Someone told me of a clamp on lamp that you can get from lowes or home depot that will do the trick but I dont know the wattage or what to get.
I do have a hood that went with my tank when I bought it. you know the ones that you would use for freshwater but I have some T-5 bulbs left over from my nova extreme and I wanted to put on in that fixture.
Can you put a T-5 39watt 10k into a freshwater hood that had a 38watt bulb in it or will the 39watt be too risky for that hood?

No the T5 lights will not work in a standard fish tank hood. What coral are you trying to keep in this container?
The best thing would be to leave the T5 fixture with the coral.
Remember also you are going to have evaporation in the container which will raise Sg. Does your relative know that they will have to top off the container to keep Sg in natural sea water level? Also that it cannot be tap water? A lot to consider here.

Yea the educational part with the water and salinity is done but they are flying my coral back down to me so I have to move the light fixture with me.
That is why I was trying to figure out something that can be used temporarily

just buy a lot of 6500 k cfl bulb from homedepot and get a regular light fixture . your soft corals will be alive for a while but the color and growth will decreased. i used this on my refugium for a year now without problem
