when I first started keeping SW tanks I went by the advice of a LFS that said just change out the light that come on the tank to this 50/50 bulb nad everything will be alright even sold be a BTA , muchrooms, and some polyps they did live but wouldnt grow and didnt thrive I didnt notice since it was my first tank I didnt know any better and though it just took a long time for these guys to grow. Now about 8 months later I found a different BB that said hey your lights arent enough to keep those and survive long term. I of course like you argued *for a loack of better terms* that they have been living and doing great for almost 8 months..
well long story longer I started to read and see these gorgeous tanks that mine didnt even compare to. so I figured I would spend alittle money and if it didnt work I could always say see it didnt work. well I was amazed not only did the corals look much better and the tank was brighter from day one!! but they started to grow rapidly!!!! I had 2 mushrooms on a rock that was my first coral and still had 2 8 months later well about 1-2 months after I added new PC lights to the tank that rock with 2 mushrooms turned into about 10-15 mushrooms and was sold about 3-4 months later cause The tank was getting crowded I paid 15$ for it and sold it for best offer of 135$ I was swayed to see the error that I had made and now have MH I got from hot883 alittle while back..
Please Dont under estimate lighting its is one of the essentials!!!

Is it possiible that the corrals died and that caused the crash? If that's not it then what crashed it? Just wondering.

the tank crashed due to lack of oxygen, i had added vodka to the tank to reduce nitrates, this did work but starved the tank of its oxygen, whatever, you live and learn.

so basically the corals were doing fine, zoanthids were spreading, toadstool opened up and standing tall, than after i did the vodka dose everything died due to lack of oxygen
