Wanted to own my own record shop when I was a kid. Glad I didnt since we all know how that industry went to the crapper. Doing computers now but I dont love the job. I started class this week to become a licensed home inspector and am hoping to start a second career for myself.

I wanted to be a wildlife biologist like Marlin Perkins in the old TV series Wild Kingdom. I DID get a degree in wildlife biology (Washington State University) and I did get to do some cool things. . . . . . tagging blue whales in the Sea of Cortez, working with sea turtles in Hawaii and Mexico, tracking mountain lion populations, numerous wildlife surveys from Alaska to South America (but never made it to Africa), etc. But I missed being in one place with friends and a significant other. Also, wildlife biology does not pay real well and I hated being poor all the time.
I went back to school and got an MBA. My salary quadrupled the first year out of school. I make excellent money but am tied to a desk, office hours, etc. One kid just started college this year and I have another 15 year old at home. When both are done with college, I'd like to sell our big house and hubbie and me settle somewhere right by the ocean. But with the economy the way it is, I am thankful I still have a job even if it does bore me some days.
I guess my fantasy job would be to be a travel writer and who knows that may be ahead of me yet.

I always thought that opthalmology, marine biology, or oceanographer would be cool jobs. I want a job that has different obstacles to overcome every day. Something that wouldn't get boring for a long, long time. It has to pay well as well. Big dreams, a lot of potential, and a good attitude will get me far. Now I have to put it all to use.
