I need help with diagnosing what is going on in my tank. My tank was almost completely stocked and I added a LMB without QT at the advice of my LFS(no algae in QT for it to eat over 6 week QT) shortly after my Black Cap and my Swallowtail Angel started flashing off the sides of the rocks darting around like they're trying to shake something and shaking their heads at this point no visible signs of anything so I trapped the fish and put them in QT and a few days later the fins started going a milky color and in 1 day the streamers on the angel disappeared and they have stopped eating. In Qt as well is a Longnose Hawkfish which seems to be doing just fine and a small fairy wrasse thats hiding( I think it has the same problem). All my checking on here seems to point at Marine velvet and if so I fear it's probably to late for them? Do I have the right diagnosis?
The other question I have is I no I will have to let my tank sit fallow for at least 8 weeks but I have a firefish in the DT that I can't trap. Will the tank rid itself of the disease with the firefish in it. The firefish as well shows no signs of anything wrong.

could be velvet ? maybe a case of flukes as well ?I'd wait until others chime in "Sorry I couldn't be of more help" adding a photo would help

Update as of this afternoon the wrasse dead no visible signs the angel dead the tail fin was eroded more and the other fins were ragged as well no other signs on the fish.
Will my tank clean itself with the firefish still in it?

Can Anybody Help with this situation?
Will my DT clean itself over 8 weeks with the firefish in it?
The tank is 6ft x 18in x 22in 108 gal. with 50 gal sump Aqua C EV180 skimmer.

No you need to remove firefish in seperate tank then leave your tank 6-8 weeks "no fish" velvet,brook,flukes ?? either way Id take him out so you can get a better look and idea whats going on and do a proper treatment

Thanks for the reply shawna That is what I figured I'd have to do so I'll tear it down again, just got it to look reaaly good to. The strange thing is the fish I have left in QT and the firefish show no signs of anything.

I know it's a pain! we've all been their. I also know what you mean though I have 2 tangs in qt one is showing Ich other is not but eventually the other will so it's only a matter of time but your doing the right thing

Yeah I was hoping I would get some advice from the experts as well but I guess not interesting enough for them. I think i can rule out velvet though as I believe all my fish would be dead by now so it must be flukes of some kind. I wish I had a digital camera to have taken a pic of the swallowtail then maybe I would have gotten more responses. I saw Beth replied to a bunch of posts the other day but blew right over mine. Well I know it's frustrating,As I am in same boat as you at this point. Im almost positive I know what Im treating for but I could be wrong.
I would say while your waiting for replys do as much reading as possiable go to the disease forum on here look at the pics ,see if they look anything what your fish have.could it be Ich? brook? if it's flukes I have a good article I can mail you if you'd like just let me know. I would still wait until beth chimes in ,she's so busy on here trying to help everyone Im sure she will find her way over to your post
