as ive learned from experience:
you need pristine water quality, the corals will react to any inbalance in water quality.
they require the proper addition of plankton and other food,
calcium, iodine, many trace elements.
a skimmer to filter the water even more.
you need proper amount of lighting, and most importantly an intense lighting source.
you need to watch the temperature, making sure the lights dont overheat the water.
you need to top off the tank with freshwater.
worry about coral placement in the tank,
you need the proper water flow,
you need to worry about corals touching.
you need to worry about coral eating inverts and fish.
you need to learn the feeding intervals
and you need ALOT of patience and time to look after them.
oh and most importantly, mucho money.
looking back on how much ive spent in the past 6 months, since i got my reef tank, i cringe inside. its an endless money pit and on some instances an addiction.
