What chemicals/supplements do you add to you reef tank. I want to switch from FO to reef. How much of each and how often would I need to add each for a 35gal.? I will be getting a dosing pump this week from an ---- auction. I just got my RO/DI water filtration system today.

I will pass along information that I got on this forum. I know you need to add calcium to get above 400ppm. Also, Strontium is important for a lot of corals. The calcium also promotes the growth of the desirable coralline algae.

If you have a smaller tank, under 55gal or so, and you change about 10% of your water every week, you only need to add small amounts of calcium for your inverts. Just make sure you use a good salt mix.

I use Instant Ocean, along with calcium, and buffer to maintain ALk.I think my mushrooms perk up after I give them Iodine so I think that is good for them. The rest is maintained by weekly or Bi-weekly Water Changes.
