What do you have on the floor of your reef tank?

currently crushed coral..... new tank is on the way next month my 180G and deciding if i should go bare bottom or use live sand?
even with the crushed coral my tanks water show perfect readings all zeros where should be

for those of you that use substrate on the floor of your reef tank, how do you get the dirt and detritus out of the substrate?

my tank has a wierd filter system it has an aggcrate thats raised up on the bottom with a wire mesh to not allow the CC to fall through but then debris flows through it and the bottom is drilled in four places that feeds two fluval 404's
i have pics if interested

you hope that a detrivore eats it, but most of it sinks into the dsb, until one day. . . . BOOM . . .
i have glass on the bottom of my tank, when detritus goes on the bottom I vacume it up. its as simple as that.

Not weird at all. It's called a plenum. Never seen it used with CC, but works great with LS.
