I need to clen my skimmer and I hear to clean Aquarium equipment with vinegar???
What kind of Vinegar??
Do you mix it with water??
Does it need to soak??
Won't that leave an odor and harm the fish and corals???

Plain kitchen vinegar. It has no oils, chemicals, etc. When rinsed smell goes away and no it will not harm fish

Just use white to be sure, and of course no flavors. If it wipes off fine if not let it soak. Don't you remember your Grandma cleaning windows in the spring with vinegar. Same principle and nothing in there to harm fish.

I always clean my skimmer with salt water from the sump.
dont see why you need to whip out the vinegar - does it get it any cleaner?
I clean my skimmer once a week anyway...

You only need to clean it with vinegar if you have calcium buildup. The acid will disolve the buildup.
My skimmer pump is full of tiny dusters. I fill a small bucket with vinegar and drop in the pump. The 'shell' of the dusters will fizz then dissolve. It is good to clean the impeller with vinegar also.
I use regular plain white vinegar from the grocery store. After a few rinses, the odor and vinegar will be gone. If some are left, it is relatively harmless.
