I think I'll just sit back and read all the replies on this question. Give it time. You should get plenty.

Today I am asking a very simple questions that how can you defined Hobby? Can you explain it?

I have lots of hobbies....its something you enjoy doing, that makes you feel happy, relaxed and satisfied...that takes up empty time, not necessarily your extra money, although a person may be willing to spend all their extra money on it. Some folks are even able to sell the product of their obsession, I loved to oil paint before arthritis set in...I made some good money, it wasn't my profession, it was something I did in my spare time. The extra money was spent on more supplies, learning to do it even better via art lessons, and celebration that I actually sold the piece for hundreds of dollars...MAD money!

LOL...Snake, so going out to the movies, or out to a concert, or going to the zoo with the kids, is a hobby? Sorry, I just had to rib you a bit.

Going out to movies and concerts can be enjoyable, relaxing, satisfying and take up empty time.

True enough...HMMM...seems I need to redefine.

How about something you find relaxing, enjoyable and satisfying, that takes up extra time...LOL...That you are obsessive about.

Examples:
Collecting figurines...collecting sports paraphernalia...fish/corals...building the perfect bird house/furniture...making stuff out of Acrylic, clay or whatever.

I'll call it active and totally optional participation in an area of interest unrelated to one's means of subsistence or social obligations. I'd further go one to describe 'active' in this context to imply the acquisition and application of knowledge and skills in a non-competitive context. (Yes, there may be an element of remuneration or competitiveness associated with some hobbies, but that should be no more than coincidental to the primary objective of indulging your mind in an activity of interest without any external pressure with respect to execution or results.) In short, it's a healthy brain vacation.

Of course there are going to be ways to torpedo any definition you try to put to it... (for instance, once I'm into THIS hobby I can no longer consider water changes, feeding, etc. as optional! But then I don't have to be in the hobby at all...)
