What does everyone do for mechanical filtration?

As the title asks, what does everyone use? Not including a skimmer, like filter floss(in what?) filter sock on return? What do you use?

nothing. absolutly no mechanical filtration on any of my tanks.

Ditto. Well maybe every now and then I'll use a sponge for some reason or another but usually for other things, like maybe to house carbon or to stop some bubbles. But as far as for mechanical filtration, nope.

my cheato acts as mechanical filtration and when I remove portions of the cheato, I remove whatever is caught in it.

I use me one of them thar filter socks.

I am currently using a filter sock until my cheato builds up so I can use that!
note: from what I have heard if you use the filter socks you need to change them and clean them every 2 days or else they build up ammonia.

I have a simple HOB filter that i run carbon and phosban in. I only run it about 4 hours a week. No floss tho.

Right. I do regular cleaning and maintenance on the sock just like I do for everything on my system.
