id say a hairy mushroom but it kinda looks like it has a base to it like mabye some sort of toadstool but hard to tell.

Can these split

Mine just appear on the rock....I don't think they split.....they just multiply on the rock....of course I could be wrong

I don't think they actually "split" but in the right conditions they can quickly multiply...especially if they are target fed on a regular basis. I had one as a hitchhiker and now have maybe 20 or more and I've traded several off over the years.

I recieved one as a hitchiker about three years ago. I had almost 25 from the little guy. when i left to go to Iraq I had a person that wasd sopposed to be yaking care of my tank instead he killed everything in the tank. that total lose was a very hard to swallow. in all i lost about 4k in marine life. needless to say a im no longer friends with this guy.
