I have a 55gal fowlr. I have 1 yellow tail damsel, 2 domino damsels, 4 turbo snails and a cleaner shrimp. I'm thinking of buying 2 clowns. What kind would go good and won't take crap from my damsels? My damsels are not real aggresive. I got rid of the mean ones. Or wshould I maybe put in something besodes clowns? My tank has been up and running for about 2 months now.

If you want clowns, you might want to consider maroons. They are a little larger, and slightly more aggressive than most clowns, thus they will do better should a damsel harass them. However, they are very difficult to keep in pairs unless you can find them already paired off.

most clowns should be able to hold their own agianst damsels, but i agreee the amroons or even tomato clowns would most likely be good choices

My clown (true perc) killed (stress and terroized) our damsels. Just a note if you want to mix the two and want to keep your damsels.

I have a 55 G with all sorts of life in it. We have 4 percs, and a maroon (among other things) cohabitating with damsels. HOWEVER- some damsels can be agressive esp to the pretty clowns. I don't follow most rules because I keep a careful watch on my tank and do all the neccessary work so I like to keep it FULL.
What a shame to have your tank and take the suggestion to add only one more fish.
Mine are doing wonderfully!

Roni, u have 4 percs or ocillaris? Would like to talk to you, I need some answers, because clowns are the best. I have 3 ocillaris, but I'm afraid one will get weakened soon. <img src="graemlins//eek.gif" border="0" alt="[eek]" />

I HAVE A GOLD BANDED MAROON CLOWN THAT IS JUST AWESOME, SUPER FRIENDLY TO ME AND EATS RIGHT OUT OF MY FINGERS. HE IS NOT AGGRESSIVE AT ALL TOWARDS OTHER FISH. HE JUST STAYS IN HIS OWN AREA EXCEPT TO EAT.
I HAVE HEARD MANY ACCOUNTS THAT GBMC ARE LESS AGGRESSIVE THAN THEIR WHITE STRIPE COUSINS. I HAD A DOMINO DAMSEL AND A 3STRIPE DAMSEL IN WITH MY CLOWN AT FIRST, AND THEY NEVER BOTHERED HIM.
JUST MY TWO CENTS.....GB MAROONS RULE!!!
