What fish to get?

I'd like some colorful fish ontop of the stuff I already want. I have not yet put up a tank, but I plan to put up a 120 gallon reef tank. I know you have to cycle but I am planning ahead. I know that I want 2 black and white percula clownfish and a yellow tang. What other fish should I get and in what order should I add the fish to the tank?

I'm also in these preliminary stages, a bit ahead of you (started cycling today!!!) but I like to think of things like this in terms of colors. You got some nice white, black and bright yellow. Get a red and a blue fish. maybe a flame angel and a blue tang.
Then let the tangs battle to see who is really king of the reef.
Blue tang wings-yellow watchman to replace the yellow tang
Yellow tang wins get a spiny blue lobster in its place
hahahahaa

{EDIT PIC - out of respect to the owner and operator of this site, please do not post links or use pictures from other sites, thanks

A candy basslet would probably do OK in a 12 (preferably in a 20 or larger), but have you bothered looking at the prices on this fish? Some people have tried getting as much as $900 for one (yea right), but I think the going rate is $90 IF you can find one.
Basslets in general aren't very 'sociable' fish. They spend most of their time hiding in the rocks unless they're hungry.

There will never be a Candy Basslet sold for much under $900. There currently is only one collector for these guys. They're found deep in the Atlantic. There's very, very few collectors capable of those depths in the Atlantic. A $90 candy basslet is definitely another species.
Sara, I think it might be better if you could name some fish you like (instead of buying fish other people like) or just some general fish, like angels, triggers, etc that you like.

LOL You will NEVER EVER find a Candy Basslet like in the picture above for $90. They go for around $900.

Posting links to other sites it against forum rules. Just a heads up.

Yea, I was just poking around last night looking for basslets. The one I saw for $90 was a Swiss Guard Basslet. I saw the similar striping and assumed it was the same fish.

There is a WYSIWYG site that has both a Candy & a Swissguard basslet right now. These are always top-notch fish. The Candy is $900, the swissguard $80.

the Swales Swissguard Basslet is very similar to the candy basslet. but i dont know the pricing for this fish.
They are two different fish.
The Swalesi Basslet -- Liopropoma swalesi

And the Swissguard Basslet -- Lipropoma rubre
-- the one CK mentioned.
The Swalesi is from deepwater, similar to the Candy, and the Swissguard is a shallow water basslet. They are priced about the same, with the Swissguard usually being a few dollars more due to demand. Around $80-$120 for either depending on location.

From what I've read black & white clownfish are pretty aggresive...those and marroon clownfish(correct me if i'm wrong). so you could go more aggresive or semi aggresive if you wanted. if you want peaceful i would put the clownfish in last depending on what you get. some colorful semi aggresive fish are a flame hawkfish or a purple psuechromis. i have both a spotted hawkfish and a purple psuechromis and i like them they aren't suuuuper active swimming all over the place...but they're pretty cool. some aggresive fish are triggers, lions, eels. hope this helps out a lil.

These fish are wholesaled at $500...so the fish that you are seeing at an "LFS" for $90, is not a L. Carmabi. If they are selling it as such, then they should never be trusted as an LFS.
