hmm, not really sure but it is possible that it could have damaged itself on the sharp edges of the l/r. apparently they prefer to be placed on the sand bed because the sharp edges of the rock can hurt their soft tissue. (i used to have my brain on the rock as well). im not sure if that is the reason it slimed up or not but you might wanna move it to the sand and see what happens

At first glance, it looks to me like you just have vermetid snails with their webs cast out.

Many times corals will shed their protective mucas coatings after a water change or when putting addatives into a system and that is what it looks like to me. HAD YOU CHANGED OR ADDED ANYTHING PREVIOUS TO PIC?

While they do best on the sand, I really don't think that's what is causing this. I'd say it's just coral mucus.
