They will return to their old shells. I've seen it happen, however one sohuld keep empty shells in the tank as they move to bigger shells.

My blue legs molt all the time.
I see the "legs" only though. I have three blue legged ones in my tank and they are all there.
I thought they had been killed when I saw the legs but all is well.

Seems like they are all deciding to "molt" at the same time then. I found another one like in the first 2 pics. I didn't bother it and this morning either the same one or another one was stuck to the intake on one of my powerheads. When I tried to get it off it just fell apart.

It is hard to keep up with them I have so many.
