What if i want Grape Caulerpa?

I bought some of the stuff from the LFS just because i liked the look of it and wanted some more green in my tank. After a little reading on here, it seems to be a nusiance. My tank is a FOWLR and already has the some feather Caulerpa in it, which has not gotten out of hand. Is the grape going to take off much faster than the feather or do you think the general growth should be the same?

I had caulpera prolifera and grape caulerpa in my 55g. Under low lighting the prolifera did well but not the grape.
With higher lighting the grape did better then the prolifera.
Not sure if that happens with feather, but I thought that dynamic was interesting.
I also use an in tank refugium to keep both protected and under control. In the display area, the crabs and fish eat both.

we run lots of macro in our systems, incl. C. racemosa and C. taxifolia. if they take off, you prune them, end of story.
do make sure you freeze any unused clippings for 24 hrs prior to tossing them to be sure they're dead.

It is an invasive algae. You don't want it getting in the ocean. The only way to truly kill it, is to freeze it.

I always WANTED it in my tank...My Kole and Hippo tangs eat it up faster than it can grow.

My rabbit fish thought it was wonderful too..... I read somewhere that it isn't so great for fish to be munching on that all the time. Didn't look into it further, so I don't know the basis of the "factoid" or the level of truth to it.

It's been a year and I never bothered with adding anymore...They didn't have any bad effects from it that I col see, and even managed to survive my heater malfuntion. My Tangs are strong from eating green like Popeye..LOL

I added an in tank refugium (an eggcrate partition 3" in front of the back glass.
The tangs could graze all day on the macros that poked through the eggcrate and the macros thrived behind the egg crate. Nitrates and phosphates unmeasureable.
Best $20 I spent on the tank. (including 2 4' utility lights.
