I dont know , but I have have that also. Noticed it after my last water change when I churned up some of the live sand in the front of my tank. I cannot think that it is bad. It is something from the live rock that I have and must be related to the long stingy 'hairs' that I see when the day-lights go out and the moon-lights are shining.

It's what the tunnels are shaped like. There not made of sand and look rather hard and stable and they are coming out of my rocks. I will def get a pic today. (of the tunnel atleast)

most likely vermetid snail. they produce a long mucus strand that looks like a long hair. there harmless
