I have battling with timers from Wal-Mart recently. It seems to me I own one of every kind that they sell, and none of them are very dependable. Does anyone have any leads for cheaper-brand timers or maybe multi-timers at a reasonable price??(maybe there is something im missing)

Radio Shack sells $15 timers that have worked for me (assuming you don't allow them to become encrusted with salt).

I use an intermatic heavy duty appliance timer, that I bought at Lowes (I think). Works great no problems

Home Depot
3prong plug grounded
seem to work fine once ya get the hang of them.
Month of May we had several storms and lost power - and naturally all the clocks, VCR, stereos, etc. need reset .... so when you're running around the house doing the 12:00 flashdance, don't forget to reset your tank lighting timers too

It would be nice if there was a multiple equiptment timer so that we can stick our equiptment into one unit but that the unit was programmed to go on-off at various times. Anybody know of one of these?

I went out to Aco Hardware and bought the simple light/appliance timer and I have had no problems what so ever. Just make sure water is not getting on your timer, and it should last for a while.

I'm using the Intermatic Heavy Duty 3 prong appliance timers. These are working great. I also agree, when losing power remember to reset your timers.
