What is Good Algae to put in the DT?

I want to add some good algae to my display tank to help bring down nitrate levels. I don't have a lighted refugium, so I am wondering if there is beneficial algae that can be added to the display tank? Something that won't take over or disrupt the system, but put out some of the nitrates. Could cheato be placed in the DT and 'thinned' out as needed? Any others that are better? TIA

BTW, my nitrate level is just under 5ppm, but I am trying to get it to zero. Water changes don't seem to be doing it, and I only fed the tank once a day, only what can be eaten.

Any algae will work as long as it can withstand the lighting, inhabitants, and our personal choice.
Find some you like and ask about those.
