I figured up what it cost to set up the 29g awhile back and it ended up around $890. Since then, the 29g has been retired and the rocks, corals, fish and inverts are mostly in the 20g, but some of the rocks are in the 90g and I'm not going to try to figure out this mess!!!

i have 225 lbs of live rock..it was $5.00 per lb. 180 lbs ls..that's about $250. my invert package was about $100. i got ripped off on the tank...it cost me $1550....but the guy didn't do a good job with the system so i had to have someone else redo it and that was about $600. Then i've spent about another $150. in the rest of the live stock....plus $50 a month for water....whew....good thing it's such a fun hobby since it cost so much!

55 gallon tank, stand and cover we already had, tetra tec 300 filter, 50/50 light bulb, 2 power heads, 80 lbs LR, cc substrate, damsels, condy anemone, invert package from SWF.com, red scarlet scallop, feather duster, green stripe mushrooms, xenia and 2 oysters. Have spent close to $1500.
Currently pricing a 150 gallon tank setup with a sump and PC lighting, should come in arround $2000 at LFS. Then will look at some corals and real fish. Want a Purple tang and pair of clowns with their host anemone. Corals as they appeal to us.
All well worth the money!
The oysters came from the local seafood market, are select oysters and cost 50 cents each.

Let me get this straight, Heavenly... You have two oysters in your tank that you bought from the fish market!? That like Marge Schott adopting that cow that escaped from the slaughterhouse.
Oh, wait, on second thought maybe you meant fish store as in local fish store. Um, never mind <img src="graemlins//silly.gif" border="0" alt="[silly]" />

In my 55 gal I have about $1500 invested including tank/stand/hood, filter/skimmer, 2 powerheads, 4 fish, 5 shrimp, 2 stars, 254 watts of PC lights, 18 corals, heater, 3 bags of live sand, and 70 lbs liverock. The wife doesn't like to see that amount but she like to sit and look at the tank too. :D
In the 70 gal I don't have much yet but about a $1000 including 3 fish, 4 corals, 2 shrimp, 265 watts of PC lights, tank/stand/hood, 100 lbs of live rock, 3 bags of live sand, filter/skimmer, 3 powerheads, and heater. This one still has alot to go. I just spent $220 ordering stuff from saltwaterfish.com for this tank.
I think thats about it.

After med school my student loan dept was over $130,000.00, so my wife doesn't let me talk about debt anymore;-) I figure, with my three tanks, probably 15-20K.

I prolly spent around $700 on my 16 gallon tank. I got totally ripped off on the original tank. If I had been smart about it, I could have done it for about $400.
