I'm going to have a little fun with this one....
What is this?
This is one of several projects for my 215g build.

Its the foam out of home depot's outside garden section with live rock stuck to it when its not dry yet and some sand sprinkled on it. Probably made as a cover for one of your water pumps or cut off your project build of your 40 gallon tank.
Did I win a prize ? I think I should win that tank ( because its awesome ! )

LOL.....Yeah it's a Maxi-Jet cover.....
Here's the project.
All I did was cover the M-Jet in plastic, I also created a little tent over the intake using cardboard (under plastic) so that the foam wouldn't expand too much around it and reduce intake flow.

Then I covered it with foam

Dusted with sand

Added the live rock pieces and waited overnight for it to dry

Here it is this morning, I have a lot of foam to remove!

The cardboard did a pretty good job of stopping the foam from expanding around the intake, wasn't really needed as I could have simply carved away the foam, but when the can's cost $12.95 each, I try and use as little as possible

Just finished carving and detailing the backside. I'll attach the M-Jet with a zip tie

I wanted a really low profile and this approach seems to have worked

Max, what is a lonely MJ1200 going to do in a 215g?

In your smaller foam tank it would be fine, but in a 215, it needs a sureflow 1600 kit or something.
Still a sweet project and looks great!

I like to have several different powerheads in a tank, because the 215 is going to be barebottom, I have several "Dead" spots or at least I think they are going to be dead spots in the tank where I'm going to need some extra flow. The smaller M-Jets combined with the variable seios and a couple of
K4's will cause keep things moving around.
