What is my clown, "Fluffy", doing???

What does it mean when my maroon clown sticks his tail (butt) in the sand and swishes it around??? Just wondering. I've seen him do it a few times lately.

a female is larger than a male.

All clowns start out as males and they only turn into a female if there is another clown in the tank with them. If you only have that one clown then it is a male, if you get another one then the larger will become the female.

Could Sterling's clown still be a female even if it is the only one in the tank. What if it were in a tank with another before or changed from a male to a female in it's natural habitat? Do they change back or is it a one time switch like they do in sweden OUCH!

Yes they will turn back into a male, kinda strange, because what happens to their parts, do they fall off or something then grow back again? Anyway they are always a male unless with another clown.

Yeah he does need a mate. but make sure it's a bigger mate so his little clown thingy doesn't fall off.
