What is on this clown?

There are these white, definitley raised and almost fuzzy looking bumps on the back underside of this clown. Visible from both sides. Sorry about the pictures - wish I could have gotten clearer. Other than the bumps, fish is doing great - active, eating. What am I looking at here?

Well I had just bought him and another home last night. I noticed this while he was in QT. The other fish had nothing wrong with it (visibly) at all. I called the store where I had gotten them and described what I was seeing. Guy at the fish store told me that it was a fungus from wounds that it probably endured while fighting - since clowns do that. Then told me to just scrape it off with my fingernail and he would be fine or I could trade him in for another. I brought him and the other fish back to the store today... mainly because I wasn't so sure that's what this was - didn't look like any wounds underneath and I wasn't sure if it was something contagious. They guy pulled out every clown he had in the tank....ALL of them (at least 2 dozen) had these "dots" in some place or another. Needless to say I left with no fish today.

That was easily treatable. It was lymphocystis. It is cured by feeding them high quality foods dosed in a rotation of Vitachem and Selcon. Keeping your water parameters in check helps keep it away. It is a viral infection. If the fish is healthy then they will not get it. It is similar (not really, but comparable) to a cold for fish. You fight it the same way. Keep the immune system high, reduce stress, etc. They probably got them in in poor health. It is a good idea to always feed your fish a high quality diet dosed with a rotation of vitamins. A healthy immune system for fish goes a long way. Believe me, it does. Keep your water parameters pristine as well. Poor water quality will make them fall ill.
