if you have 1-2LB of lr per gallon your filter can be very very small and your tank will be fine.. Get LOTS of biofiltration.

Seems like the Aqua Clear brands are pretty popular with lots of Nano owners......as they have a nice large filter chamber to make into a refugium.....I use a piece of fine foam (30 micron filtering size) which is used to polish the water, and let the actual filtering process get handled by the liverock and sand......I sometimes hang a bag of activated charcoal or most recently have been using Purigen in a mesh bag hung in the pump inlet chamber......works great.

I just have the stock sponge, and carbon (I will change carbon about every 6 months).
Other then that, 12Lb's LR and 20LB's LS.
I will be adding some LR slowly (hopefully about 1-2 LB's at a time

Fill the bak with live rock and live rock rubble, natural is the best way to filter!! I have it on my 12 gal nano, has worked awesome for about 6 months!
