What is the BEST Skimmer for a 110gal. REEF Tank???

A "Beckett" is a style of skimmer just like "needlewheel skimmers".....Your not being mean!!!!!They assume I guess that you know it is classed as a beckett style skimmer.....They don't copy anyones design.....The beckett comes from the piece used to produce the foam which is used in pond applications........It's a foaming head. If you would look at the design and go to the other site and look at pics real close you would see where the becketts come into play at.....When it comes to raw skimming power and handling huge amounts of water a needlewheel can't match up....
To answer you question anyone who builds even their own beckett style skimmer uses the same foaming heads....Why would you reinvent the wheel or try to when a good product already exists to do the job?????Like I said crzyfish check out the other forum and you'll see these skimmers aren't for the weak hearted!!!!!!!! You need a good pump to drive these things and you get quality skimmate, the only draw back to a beckett skimmer is that it needs more attention than a needlewheel skimmer does....To some that is no hassle and others don't like the idea of a big pump to drive them as well......But again if you do any reading in the fish magazines on skimmers you'll see Andy at MRC mentioned being at the top in that skimmer field, so it's kinda hard to knock his work......Again go to the other forum and look up that specific forum MRC club and you'll see them in action and maybe you'll understand that I said best skimmers for the job I listed several options being needlewheel and beckett style skimmers.......

Hey crzyfish, just to let you know I still haven't made up my mind as to which skimmer I'm going to use on my setup.....I'm torn between the beckett and the needlewheel design....I love the ease of the ASM's but also want raw skimming power which I'd get from the beckett style skimmer......I should have mentioned PM's Bullet skimmer in there as well.....Actually I like the Barrs' beckett skimmer alittle more than the MRC due to the air gauge feature. The drawback there is the lead time to get your hands on 1 of those puppies......Another nice feature of the MRC, you can basically carry the skimmer along with you as you progress up in tank size....You won't find that with a needlewheel skimmer.....MRC has put alot of time and research into their products and are really well built well known skimmers.....Of course you'll talk to another bunch that will tell you there's nothing better then a Deltec or H S skimmer.....Very nice European skimmers which are very supreme, but look at their price tags.....Not for your average working man in my opinion.....If you want the best of the best you'll look for the Bubble King and you'll find no better, but when you look at the price tag you'll wanna drown yourself in your tank.....I think their smallest skimmer "Bubble King" starts at around $2,000.00. So with that said going with a modest budget pound for pound the skimmers I mentioned early on are the best bang for the buck....Again I shouldn't forget about AquaC. I love their new line of bigger skimmers, but personally haven't seen 1 in action, but hear they are nice!!!!!

MRC is a local company to where I'm at, and for a while I was hearing nothing good about them. Now this was a few years ago, and they might have fixed their problems, but I had to at least pipe in on that.
I was hearing that their skimmer and their reactors leaked badly. I heard this from 2 different lfs that carried their products. I heard this also from club members.
I'm specifically trying to be a little tearse on the details to prevent certain people from getting flamed.

Nobody will get flamed....That's what it's all about....ASM supposedly leak and have to be run in sump.....I had heard the same issues with Andy (MRC), but again if you follow the products closely enough the issues seemingly have been resolved......
